Transfers and fees

Move money between your own accounts without it counting as spending — with the bank fee recorded separately.

A transfer moves money between two of your accounts — from a card to savings, from a bank account to cash. It changes both balances but is neither income nor spending, so it never shows up in spending reports.

Record a transfer

  1. Press N and choose Transfer.
  2. Pick From account and To account.
  3. Enter the amount and press Enter.

A transfer needs two different accounts. If the money changes currency — dollars to euros, even on the same account — record an exchange instead.

Bank fees

If the transfer cost you a fee, fill in Fee and pick a Fee category (for example, “Bank fees”). The fee is recorded as its own expense, linked to the transfer:

  • it appears in spending reports under the category you chose;
  • voiding the transfer voids the fee with it;
  • to change the fee later, edit it in the journal on its own.
