Accounts

An account is any place money lives: a card, cash, a bank account, a deposit, even an apartment you want counted in your net worth.

Create an account

Open Accounts and click Account:

• Name — “Main card”, “Cash”, “Savings”.
• Type — Card, Wallet, Bank, Cash, Savings, Credit or Property. It sets the icon and the grouping; accounts of type Property are left out of the Runway widget.
• Owner — who in the household it belongs to, or shared.
• Opening balance — one field per currency. Leave a field empty if there is none of that currency on the account. Currencies must be added to the household first — see Currencies.

Several currencies on one account

A multi-currency card stays one account. Each currency gets its own balance row, with the equivalent in your base currency next to it. A new currency appears on the account as soon as an entry brings it there.

If a currency’s balance is back to zero, Remove hides that row. Nothing is deleted: the row comes back by itself once there is a balance again.

Clicking an account opens its card: balances by currency, Balance over 6 months and the entries on this account.

Correct a balance

In Edit → Balances, type what is on the account now. The difference is recorded as a Balance correction entry; earlier entries stay as they are.

Logo

Upload a picture — a bank logo, for example — under Logo. Pick a file or paste it; it is resized automatically.

Order and grouping

• Order lets you drag accounts or move them with arrows, or sort them alphabetically or by balance. Accounts appear in this order everywhere: the list, the overview and the entry panel.
• The list can be shown As a list, By type, By currency or By owner.

Archive or delete

• Archive hides an account you no longer use but keeps its history, so reports still add up. Restore brings it back.
• Delete is only possible for an account with no entries.
