Currency exchange
Record money changing currency — on one account or between two — with the rate you actually got.
An exchange moves money between two currencies. It can happen on one account (a multi-currency card converting dollars to euros) or between two accounts (cash dollars exchanged into a euro account).
Record an exchange
- Press N and choose Exchange.
- In Given, pick the account and enter what you gave, in its currency — for example
500.00 USD. - In Received, pick the account and enter what you got —
459.10 EUR. - Check the rate shown under the amounts and press Enter.
The rate is simply what you gave and received, so it is exactly the rate the exchange office or bank gave you — no need to type it separately.
Any pair of currencies
You can exchange between any two currencies, including pairs the reference source doesn’t quote directly and currencies you added yourself.
How it shows in your base currency
An exchange is not income or spending. Both sides get the same equivalent in your base currency with opposite signs. Asienta takes one side as the anchor — the side in your base currency if there is one, otherwise the given side — and the other side matches it.
