Importing your history

Asienta can import your full history — currencies, accounts, categories and every entry — when you move from another app. Today it reads exports from Drebedengi; more formats are planned.

Before you start

• Import goes only into an empty household, otherwise you would get duplicates. Import right after creating a household, clear its data first, or create a new household for it.
• The best source is a Drebedengi backup — a .zip with one .txt file. It is more accurate than the CSV export and knows which accounts are archived and which are debts. The CSV export works too.
• Files up to 10 MB. The file is read once and isn’t stored anywhere.

Import

1. Open Settings → Import from Drebedengi and click Import history…
2. Choose the archive. Asienta shows what will be created before writing anything:
   • the period and the number of expenses, income, transfers and exchanges;
   • Currencies — codes matched automatically; type a three-letter code for any that weren’t, and choose the main one;
   • Accounts — for each: Import, Archive or Leave out. Archived accounts and debts are pre-marked from your data;
   • Categories — the expense and income trees.
3. Click Import.

Import is all or nothing: if a single row fails a check, nothing is written. After writing, every account balance is compared with the export; if they don’t match, the import is rolled back. Historical exchange rates for your currencies are loaded as part of the same step.

Transfers involving accounts you left out become an expense or income in a Debts category, so balances still match.

Clear data

An owner can start over from Settings → Clear data…: it removes every entry, account, category and currency in the household. To confirm, type the household name.
