# Transfers and fees

> Move money between your own accounts without it counting as spending — with the bank fee recorded separately.

A transfer moves money between two of your accounts — from a card to savings, from a bank account to cash. It changes both balances but is neither income nor spending, so it never shows up in spending reports.

## Record a transfer

1. Press <kbd>N</kbd> and choose **Transfer**.
2. Pick **From account** and **To account**.
3. Enter the amount and press <kbd>Enter</kbd>.

A transfer needs two different accounts. If the money changes currency — dollars to euros, even on the same account — record an [exchange](/en/docs/currency-exchange/) instead.

## Bank fees

If the transfer cost you a fee, fill in **Fee** and pick a **Fee category** (for example, “Bank fees”). The fee is recorded as its own expense, linked to the transfer:

- it appears in spending reports under the category you chose;
- voiding the transfer voids the fee with it;
- to change the fee later, edit it in the journal on its own.
