# Editing, voiding and undo

> Fix a mistake without losing history — edits keep the previous version, and voided entries can be restored.

## Edit an entry

Click **Edit** on an entry in the journal. The entry panel opens with its details; change what you need and save.

Behind the scenes Asienta doesn’t overwrite the entry: the previous version is voided and the new one recorded, in one step. That is why yesterday’s report never changes without a trace. If the date stays the same and you didn’t set a rate, the new version keeps the previous rate.

## Void an entry

**Void** removes an entry from balances, totals and reports. It is not erased.

## Undo

After voiding or editing, a notification appears with **undo**:

- undoing a void brings the entry back;
- undoing an edit restores the previous version and voids the replacement.

## Special cases

- **Transfer fees** are their own entries: edit a fee in the journal on its own. Voiding a transfer voids its fee too.
- **Opening balances** are changed on the account card, under **Balances** — see [Accounts](/en/docs/accounts/).
